For our guests

Inclusive Hotel

An accessible and inclusive stay

Ensuring a fully positive hotel stay experience. This is the goal of Inclusive Hotel, an initiative dedicated to guests with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), children and adults, and their families and caregivers.

The Inclusive Hotel project has been conceived by Best Western hoteliers and has been developed with the scientific support of L’abilità Onlus.

The Hotel Astoria is participating in this project: in order to best welcome guests, its staff has undergone training provided by experts from L’abilità Onlus. We have selected the ideal rooms, analyzed the common areas, and prepared a Hotel Guide that can be consulted in advance to learn about the facility and obtain information for a more comfortable stay.

The hotel guide

Rich in images and compiled using highly legible Easy Reading® fonts, it contains all the information needed to prepare for a hotel stay for people with autism spectrum disorder. It can be downloaded from this page and consulted before your stay.

Furthermore, to simplify and make information more readily available, you will find information sheets in the rooms detailing the hotel’s services and information about our city, translated into Augmentative and Alternative Communication symbols.

Blu Wall

A child and a woman observe us silently. Clasped in an invisible embrace, they look out over one of Milan’s busiest squares and, with their clear, penetrating gaze, seem to be questioning us. They are not real people, but the protagonists of Blu Wall, a new mural that has appeared on one of the facades of our Hotel Astoria. It was promoted by the Doni family, owners of the hotel, together with LifeGate, and conceived in collaboration with the association L’abilità.

A discreet presence, yet impossible to ignore for anyone passing along Viale Murillo, where the hotel has been a landmark for citizens for years. The unmistakable signature of the new street art work belongs to Orticanoodles, an artistic collective. A first step towards communicating our vision of accessible tourism.

A hotel that caters to all guests, especially those with autism spectrum disorders. Unlike other disabilities, these are often less visible and people are less prepared to deal with them. At Hotel Astoria, however, we strive to do just that: to be different, to be better than others at welcoming everyone.
